Montgomery, Alabama

Before you apply for your next position, accept another major assignment, lead another team, or carry the same leadership gaps into a new year—stop and ask yourself:
How do I lead my PIP?
For this Summit, PIP represents three essential responsibilities of modern leadership:
PEOPLE
How do people experience your leadership?
INNOVATION
How do you lead through emerging tools, new ideas, and organizational change?
PERFORMANCE
How do you define success, measure value, and lead work toward meaningful outcomes?
The PMI South Alabama Professional Leadership Summit is a full-day, interactive experience designed to help professionals examine how they lead people, navigate innovation, and deliver performance.
Guided by PMI South Alabama’s 2026 theme, Building Bold Bridges, the Summit will connect professionals across industries, communities, career stages, and leadership backgrounds.
Because when we build, we create stronger professional relationships. When we lead boldly, we create meaningful change. When we bridge our experiences, talents, and perspectives, we create a professional community where everyone can belong.
Building, we bond. Boldly, we lead. Bridging, we belong.
This is not another event where you simply listen, take notes, and return to business as usual. You will participate in practical workshops, leadership discussions, personal reflection, and guided activities that help turn what you learn into action.
Lead People. Lead Through Innovation. Lead for Performance.
PMI South Alabama’s Professional Development Day has evolved into the Professional Leadership Summit—a broader, more robust, and more inclusive signature experience for professionals throughout South Alabama.
Project leadership is not limited to those who hold the title “Project Manager.” Every day, professionals lead teams, coordinate initiatives, introduce change, manage resources, serve stakeholders, solve problems, and transform ideas into results.
The Professional Leadership Summit welcomes anyone responsible for leading people, projects, change, initiatives, organizations, or outcomes.
This evolution reflects PMI South Alabama’s commitment to Building Bold Bridges by connecting project management with leadership development, workforce advancement, innovation, and community impact.
PDD built the foundation. The Professional Leadership Summit expands the bridge.
The Summit will open with an introduction to the PIP leadership framework and the central challenge for the day:
How do you lead your People, Innovation, and Performance responsibilities when they intersect?
Leading Trust, Talent, and Accountability
Examine how people experience your leadership and explore the role of trust, communication, delegation, accountability, talent development, team capacity, and well-being.
Leading the Right Change at the Right Time
Learn how to evaluate emerging technology, new tools, and organizational change based on the problem being addressed, the people affected, organizational readiness, potential risks, and measurable value.
Define Success. Measure Value. Deliver Outcomes.
Move beyond task completion and traditional project measures. Explore how leaders define project success, establish meaningful measures, align stakeholder expectations, and guide work toward outcomes worth the investment.
Beyond Delivery: Who Determines Project Success?
A panel of leaders representing executive sponsorship, project delivery, and the customer or end-user experience will examine how different stakeholders define project success.
The discussion will challenge participants to consider whether a project can be completed on time, within budget, and according to scope—and still fail to deliver meaningful value.
PIP in Practice: Leading at the Intersection of People, Innovation, and Performance
The closing experience will bring all three PIP pillars together through a realistic leadership challenge involving competing priorities, team capacity, emerging technology, organizational risk, stakeholder expectations, and project value.
Every participant will receive a PIP Leadership Passport to guide reflection and application throughout the Summit.
During the experience, you will identify:
One People leadership commitment
One Innovation leadership commitment
One Performance leadership commitment
One action you will implement within 30 days
A clearer definition of how you intend to lead in 2027
You will leave with more than presentation notes. You will leave with a personal 30-day PIP designed to help you apply what you learned.
Participants who complete the required PIP Leadership Passport checkpoints will be eligible for a drawing. Five winners will each receive two complimentary tickets to the PMI South Alabama End-of-Year Social.
